Our simple family vacation ended up as a 21-day, 7 city train, plane & automobile trip...

Back in 2014, wanting the kids to get more exposed to our Chinese roots, we initially intended to set out for either Shanghai or Beijing, and even toyed with the idea of Western China (Silk Road). However, for various reasons, we decided against SH and BJ and chickened out of the Silk Road (till the kids are older) and went to Taiwan instead, and what a great idea that was!

Our simple family vacation ended up as a 21-day, 7 city train, plane & automobile trip from northeast Taiwan, down the East Coast of Hualien, across to Southwest Kaohshiung, up to quaint Tainan, across to the island of Penghu and its dotting of sister islands Cimei and Wang'An; then back to the main island, we went up to the hilly farm land of Cingjing, and back up to Taipei.

In the next few blog posts, we'll share our itinerary in more detail, including where we stayed in family rooms that were large enough to fit 5 of us.
